#NewsFlash | Noguchi Museum Is Free On First Fridays
BY QEDC It's In Queens
The best things in life are free.
For example, the Free First Friday program at The Noguchi Museum. And the next one is on Aug. 6 from 11 am to 6 pm.
The Long Island City gallery discontinued this program due to Covid a few months ago, but it’s back now, although reservations are required to maintain social distancing. Plus, visitors must arrive within a scheduled three-hour time slot and wear masks.
Multi-faceted artist Isamu Noguchi founded and designed his namesake museum, which opened to the public in 1985. The two-story venue, which includes 27,000-square-feet of exhibition space and an outdoor sculpture garden, presents his sculptures, furniture designs, architectural models, drawings, and other pursuits as well as related programs and live music.
Located at 9-01 33rd Rd., the museum is across the street from where Noguchi (1904-1988) had a studio. In 1974, he bought a photogravure plant that he eventually converted into his museum.
